This medical review course focuses on the assessment, management, and treatment of gunshot wounds. It covers the pathophysiology of ballistic trauma, including the types of injuries associated with different calibers and types of ammunition. Students will gain in-depth knowledge on:

• Ballistics and Injury Mechanisms: Understanding the impact of different ammunition types and velocities on tissue damage and wound ballistics.

•  Initial Assessment and Triage: Strategies for rapid assessment and prioritization of treatment in trauma settings.

• Wound Management: Techniques for surgical intervention, including wound debridement, repair, and the use of imaging technologies.

• Complications and Management: Recognizing and managing common complications such as infection, hemorrhage, and organ damage.
